A Message from the Big Ape at Big Ape Productions

My name is Ian Ragsdale and I have been fortunate enough to take Big Ape Productions around the world and back again.

It all started in the year 2000, when I founded the company to make documentaries and promotional videos for a few performing arts troupes and fashion designers in Houston, Texas.  From these quite humble beginnings pitching my services from a tech booth in a Washington Blvd theater, I embarked upon a film making journey to Austin, TX, New York City, and all over Europe.

I have taught film making classes in Times Square and in Munich, Vienna, and Mallorca.

I’ve shot documentaries about Off-Broadway productions, the homeless, wine making, lavender farming, wild foods of the Sonora Desert, and Olympic gymnasts.

My international projects have included German-language documentaries, a long-form news pieces for Dutch TV, and commercial shorts for the web.

More recently, I have been involved with electronic musicians producing unique music videos.

My clientele is heavily diversified today, but most continue to be forward-thinking companies and entrepreneurs in the areas of lifestyle, beauty, service, coaching, academia, activism, and the performing arts.
